Sport is at the heart of the company's mission. The two founders: André Claude and Ginette Leduc transformed their love of sport into technical and comfortable clothing for different types of sports. These two former physical education teachers at Cégep André Laurendau chose to embark on the design of clothing to remedy the problem of lack of technical clothing for the practice of sport at a reasonable price for their students.
The need being real, the demand is exploding and the company has to move to a bigger environment. It was then that they decided to move the business to the old school in the village of St-Clet dating from the 1900s.
Each product line was designed from size 6 to 16, but their distributor did not see the importance of the plus size customer base. Yet the demand was there. Plus-size women grew tired of seeing lifeless, uncut styles and having to shop multiple times to find some semblance of choice. So the obvious was there… Sportive Plus was born.
Sport, the outdoors and well-being are at the heart of the company's DNA. At 22, André was in the top 20 of the best javelin throwers in the world and was chosen athlete of the year in Quebec. The same year as his participation in the Olympic Games in Munich. For her part, Ginette undertook the trek on the way to Everest leading to Gokyo (4750m) twice.
